Spirituality In Family

"What is family?" The spiritual aspects of family are essential in understanding acceptance of one another. Families contain different spiritual and religious views causing distress and brokenness. Family does not have to mean related by blood, or by anything. I think I would define family as the people who are supposed to look out for you, to back you up, give you unconditional love and acceptance, respect you, and support you in every way. Why are there exceptions? How can one's own family turn their back on a member? Ties are broken if one breeches the family morals and beliefs. This piece describes the importance of family traditions and gatherings. If the bond between family is broken because of different life views, does that mean the family no longer exists? Can you technically pick and choose your family? Where you feel excepted and loved is the place you should go and whoever is included there should be pronounced your family. Spiritual traditions such as prayers and church going are also important in a lot of peoples' culture. Strength, patience, and forgiveness are required to maintain the family structure.

Lett- Own topic- #1

In reflection of the Pacific Crest Trail video, it's amazing to me how united every hiker seems to be. Once you're on the trail it's as if you are apart of a separate universe. In the normal universe, people are labeled by class or what job they have, but on the trail everyone is of equal status and is treated as human. It's beautiful. I loved listening to what motivated each one of the hikers to finish their journey and i loved seeing the reactions once they did reach the end. While i am not sure if i would be able to go on such a journey, videos like this definitely make one get motivated to complete a big task like this. The other thing that fascinated me was that while it seemed many of the hikers were united and taking this trip together, each journey is specific in it's own right.
