Landscapes of The Sacred - The Ordinary as Mask of the Holy
In class I remember discussing about how scenic places can be masked as holy. God remains hidden by a mask. We as individuals are not able to capture it all. In this chapter the author mentions how some scenic places can be disguises in the process of revealing itself and making it known. The author continues to discuss how we as individuals can look beyond it, not knowing really what it means, or for what it is. At the very end of the chapter there is a quote that caught my eye which I think describes this chapter as a whole, "Split the stick and there is Jesus; lift the stone and one finds the Lord" (Lane, 72).
