Phenomenology of Prayer #1
In Phenomenology of Prayer, the author discusses how a person must pray with a de-centered self. The divine is much *more* than we are. The divine is incomprehensibly so much *more* than we are, so when praying truthfully and honestly we cannot think of ourselves or be focused on ourselves because we don't have the ability to do so simultaneously and expect a divine experience. We cannot project ourselves outwards and expect to reach enlightenment. Speaking to a higher being doesn't leave room for self centered thoughts.
