Camino De Santiago Documentary - Christina Lobosco
Watching these documentaries are so fascinating because it provides an inside look to the lives of hikers on the Camino. Hikers are so passionate about this journey, which I believe is the reason why there is a big sense of family and community throughout. The sense of family is prominent, so much so, travelers even get excited to see the people they hated on the trail. I found this funny because it reminded me of a sibling dynamic. Regardless of arguments or fights, family always revert back to the core of love.
Another aspect that was highlighted in this documentary was the motives of why people travel. In one personal account, a woman says that she is walking the trail to let out the burdens she carries, but to also deepen her connection to nature. The beauty on this trail is seen for anymore who walks this trail, regardless of the route. While people enter the trail for self-discovery and contemplation, I was happy to see that people have fun on the trail. The memories and connections that were made only enhance the group experience. Many want to complete the trail and cross this journey off their bucket list, but it was important to slow down and enjoy the adventure.
I also took into account the simplistic life the hikers live. One woman even says that the best thing in life is curiosity and without it, our world would simply be predictable. This trail allows for so much self-discovery and self-reflection. It was said that travelers develop the knowledge of when to be alone and when to depend on others, which is a skill that every person should have.
