Ian Fein Landscapes of the Sacred #1

When reading Landscapes of the Sacred by Belden Lane, I focused on one of the four axioms; "Sacred place is ordinary place, ritually made extraordinary" beginning to ponder about the axiom. Sacred place is only sacred, because of the relationship it has with the people who come across it. If people did not view a place as being extraordinary, then no one would go to it and the place would not be considered sacred. The place would not make any lasting impact on any ones life. However, as more and more people visit a place, stories are told regarding the place and then more people go to the place to see what it has to offer. Once a place has numerous amounts of people has numerous amounts of people from a bunch of different cultures, a sense of community is created. People and place exist in a codependent relationship both influencing and altering one another for the better.
