Lett Own Topic #2

When I think of a sacred journey, i don't always think of going out into nature or wilderness and searching for divinity. Sacred journeys occur in our everyday lives. We are faced with ethical situations, moral dilemmas, tragedies, and etc in our daily lives. How we overcome those obstacles is a sacred journey in itself. I believe testimonies are powerful. Testimonies are not only biographies of oneself, but scars per say of what you have been through and why you are where you are now. We were all brought to where we are now in this moment because of decisions we made, subjectively good or bad decisions. A quote that i find relevant to this topic comes from one of my all time favorite sports athletes, Tony Romo. In the midst of a passing of the torch speech, he is quoted saying: " I feel like we all have two battles or two enemies going on. One with the man across from you. The second is with the man inside of you. I think once you control the one inside of you, the one across from you really doesn't matter. I think that is what we are all trying to do" To tie this up with sacred journey, I believe as humans it is hard for us to overcome guilt or the what ifs in life. In reality, without the downfalls and struggles endured in life you would not be where you are today. The idea of sacred place and sacred journey comes from having a calm mind and putting a trust in a higher power to reveal something to us. Once you can decentralize the voice inside of you and focus on the voice of God, you will be able to see true sacred place.
