[Encounter with nature][Nolan Trail]
While on the Nolan with the class, I couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder. I began to understand why so many poets of the centuries wrote about the beauty and intensity of nature, so i decided to write my own:
A mural of luminescence is all that I saw,
The setting sun sinking into the distance swallowed up whole.
One railing saving humanity from its most fatal fall
Into the sea of sublime, mother nature, and awe.
Notice the distant wilderness, and us locked in our cage,
The wild has fallen and humanity was saved.
As we forget and make history the ways of the past,
We all took a picture, in hope it would last.
This poem was inspired by my vision of humanity moving further and further from nature. With the increased technology and focus on the autonomous person, there has been a disenfranchisement with the outside world and a focus on internal distraction. This is my call of attention to this topic so dear, in hopes that we will return one of these years.
What can create a change in the American's value for nature? What will happen if we let the world fade away?
