In class video: Six Million Steps "A Journey inward"

During this class Dr. Redick played a film for us to watch on the Pacific Crest Trail. The film began by with explaining the background of the trail. There are about three hundred through hikers a year that choose to take on the PCT. They choose to hike because they are looking for something but are unsure of what it is. When hiking any long distance trail the planning is usually thrown out on the first day because your body has to go at its own pace. In the film and in class we discussed trail angles. Trail angles are people of have provided trail magic in the form of kindness and generosity to hikers. On the PCT trail angles are very helpful when crossing the deserts in a drought. One of the mind treks you can experience on the trial is the reflection on going out on your own and finding your true self. Memories from the past and present come back while walking and revisit you. Hiking the PCT is a dream of mine and watching the film made me realize the ups and downs a hiker can experience when on such a long distance hike.
