Helmer Pacific Crest Trail- my choice

A few weeks ago in class, Dr. Redick played a movie for us about the Pacific Crest Trail. I hadn't ever really seen what went on during a long hike such as this one, but it was very interesting to me the way everyone got through it. The hikers who are choosing to hike this trail know they are searching for something, but they haven't quite figured out yet what that thing is. The different rituals and experiences each person hiking went through was amazing to see. The way they each plan to encounter this hike is like no other, and essentially nobody can be prepared to take on this challenge. With as much training and planning that is done beforehand, their bodies still aren't prepared for what they are about to go through, and sometimes that factor ends people's hike a lot sooner than expected. Going through this journey it is important to find God and go through the experience knowing he is with you the whole way. Being able to find yourself is also a very important factor because without this, it can cause failure and a will to stop pushing through the pain. Nothing really ever goes exactly how you plan it to and this showed throughout the movie as we saw the highs and lows each of the different hikers experienced. Hiking helps to heal the mind and the soul, and in order for this to happen you must allow God to be present with you. Going on a long distance hike such as this one would be an amazing experience and I hope I am able to do this one day.
