Helmer Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture

In chapter two of this book, it explains the many different Mexican Pilgrimages, and goes through their myths and history. It explains how in the Mexican culture, they have many different shrines throughout the country, but how do they know the if the shrine is a center for pilgrimage or not? They have many diffeent criteria that the shrine must possess which decides whether or not the shrine is a center for pilgrimage. This is relatable to us because whatever faith or religion we believe in, has different shrines and centers of faith. There are ways we decide which places fall into this category and we can also do this when deciding if a place is considered a sacred holy place.
